The Fruit Duties.

[United Press Association.) Sydney, This Day. In reference to the fruit dnty the Sydney Morning Herald says that as tho New Zealand Government is intent on its treaties, perhaps an increased duty on an article so largely supplied by Australia is not unconnected with the preferential treatment proposed to he accorded to South Australia. It is to be hoped that New Zealand will not insist on the the increase, especially when New South Wales is on the point of removing barriers to intercolonial exchange.
