RIWAKA ROAD BOARD.
The Board met on September 5. Present: Messrs Bate (chairman), Fry, Maomahon, Ryder, Batchelor, and Duncan. The Secretary presented the audited statement of the Board's accounts for the year ending March 31. The receipts for the year inclusive of a balance from the previous year showed rates, &o, £109 29 sd; Government grants for special worka, £487 7s 6d. Messrs Q-. Thomas and A. Drummond attended the meeting concerning compensation for the road up the Riwaka Valley. It was agreed that the matter should be settled by arbitration. The following resolutions were passed : — That Mr R, Pattie be appointed tD arbitrate for the Board in the matter of taking a road through Messrs Thomas Brothers' land in Riwaka Valley, to act with Messrs Thomas and Drummond; that a man be engaged to cut the gorse on Sandy Boy road near Mrs Inglis' new fence; that the Board look at Valley road and get the worst places repaired, so as to have the culvert put in on Barnett's contract; that the Board gravel about 25 chains of road from the gravelling done in front of Lodder's house northward. A cheque was drawn for J, Graves, to be held till his contract be completed. Cheques were signed for a total of £20 3s sd.
