News from Samoa states that Thursday, May 8, had besn proclaimed by King Malietoa as a day of national thanksgiving for restored peace in Samoa.

A murder, accompanied by cannibalism, has been disaovered at Apia, an old man having been killed and part of the body eaten. It is supposed that the dec?a3ed became involved in a quirrel with some of the foreign Labour Companies, The Germ in Consul is investigating the matter, bu l ; there is no due to the perpertrator of tho crime yet.
