Two Steamers Collide when at Anchor.

Wklmngton, May 1 .

The Southern Cross which arrived this morning from Napier reports coming into collision with the Kawatiri while at anchor oil Castle Point on Sunday afternoon. The weather was very heavy at the timo and a strong south-westerly gale blowing. .The Southern Cross, which leffc Napier on Saturday night was the firsfc fco drop anchor, and bhe Kawatiri anchored close to her shortly afterwards. During one severe gust the two vessels swung on their anchors and came into collision. The Southern Cross has three large dents on the port bow, one of the plates-being stove in about three feels below the top rail, which is also completely shattered. When the Southern Cross came in she had the hole patched with a piece of planking. A preliminary enquiry is to be held,
