Sxdhei, July 26. It is understood that there is a deadlock in connection with the Australian Primaoy. The Bishops of New South Wales have struck out from the list the names of the Rev Glynn Mottle, of Eidley Hall, Oxford, and the Rev Canon Samaurez Smith, of the Birkenhead Theologioal College, and consequently are unable to remit the names of two candidates to the Bishops of Australia for final seleotion, The General Synod meets again in August for the purpose of taking fresh action in the matter. In the meantime the ultra-Protes-tant seotion are making efforts to remove the Primacy from Sydney, is order to allow the Bishops of the whole of Australia to elect one of their own number to fill the office of Primate. The Chairman of the Legislative Oounoil of New South Wales, in a memorandum, decides that the amendment made by the Gounoil in the Payment of Members Bill : doeß not yiolate the Constitution, as it does not lead to the appropriation of public reran nue or impose taxation. At the inquest on the late colliery accident at the Glebe mine, a verdict was returned to the effect that the accident was $ae to the weakness of the pillars. The jury censored the overseer, named Sharp, fcjr not palling the men out when the first {alls from the roof were reported.
