TAKAKA ROAD BOARD.
The usual monthly. meeting of theTakaka Rdaa Board was held on the 20th July. All the members exoapt Mr Newport were present. As Mr Packard's contract for falling bash, and making road through section 111 was nearly compleoed, hia request for a cheque of £26 to be held by the Secretary till the work ia passed was granted. It wbb resolved, That gravel pits in different partsjof tbedistriofe be obtained, and it was agreed tbat the following members be appointed for the work : — Mr MoDonald, East road ; Mr MoFarlane, JUoag Plain ; and Mr Bobp, the Waitapu^dietricts. It. was resolved, That Messrs Soott a«d Newport view the gorse growing on bbe roadß " f rom Waingaro to Long Outtiogr, upwards, Messrs MoDonald and Bear d take from Long Cattiogjco Clifton and to the Junction, Meßsra MoFarlane and Rose from Junction, Para-xn-ihoi, and Long Plain. Mr Baird was authorised to get the gorse grubbed up where tha Road Board is liable, also to gfcfc the Ittil replaced, and all necessary work doae to the bridge near the Motnpipi river. It was resolved thau Mr Newport get the ruts raked in on Patterson's contract between the ohurch and Mr Baigent'a, Mr Rose proposed, seconded by Mr Baird, That as the Tramway Company have noo ao epfced the Road Board's offer of a coaldep>t, the offer will be withdrawn, aod the Secretary write to the Tramway Company to that efteo', Also to request that the Tramway' Company raise the aprjroaoh to the. T part of the wharf with gravel, eo that horses oan back their loads olose to the wharf. Mr Robb proposed, seconded by Mr Scott, Tbat the erection of a bridge over the Takaka river at Pane's Ford is in tbe opinion of the Board a most necessary work to bo done in th« ditftxiofe,
