1.0.0.F., NELSON DISTEICT.

The usual quarterly meeting in connection with the Widow and Orphans Fund was held at the Lodge room, Waimea street, on Monday, 3rd inßt., Prov. Grand Master A. B. Smart in the chair, when payments amounting to £66 13s 6d were passed, there being a slight decrease in the number of recipients during the past quarter. The Past Grands' Lodge connected with the Nelson District, M.JJ., has had several meetings lately with the intention of ascertaining the views of the members ?c the proposed reorganisation of the Lodge in the shape of doing away with the annual dinner and substituting & picnic or other amusement, and also to have more frequent lodge meetings so as to enable it to be of more general use than at present. At the meeting held on Monday last it was decided to postpone arriving at a final decision until the lecture meeting in November next, which, being held at Richmond, will enable the country Past Officers to tender their advice. The officers of the Nelson District, M.U., (having received a communication from the Executive of the Ancient Order of Foresters, acting under a resolution of their late District Court meeting, requesting the opinion of the Oddfellows re the practicability of exchanging medical benefits between the two Societies) have arranged for a conference on Saturday evening next when the matter will be disei^ssed.
