o This election, in which Messrs. Shephard and Baigent were the rival candidates, took place yesterday, but the final results are not yet known. The numbers polled, so far as we have yet learned, are as follows : —
It is 1-umoured that Mr. Shephard was likely to obtain a considerable majority both at Wangapeka and Matakitaki, but, whatever tha result in these two places, his return may be looked upon as pretty well secured.
