Mr. Johnson has succeeded in bringing 220 head of cattle from Queensland, by the Kate Waters, and they are placed for inspection in Mr. Green's pad- '■ dock. They are in splendid condition, and show that the greatest care must have been taken of them during the sea voyage. There is. a prospect of the public being supplied with cheap beef as well as cheap bread, and it is to be hoped that the success of Mr. Johnson's present speculation wiil be such as to induce him to come again. We are sure that the language of the people will be, when they taste the beef, "cut and come again/' The annual distribution of prizes to the children taught in the Government schools was made in the Provincial Hall to-day, by his Honor the Superin- - tendent.
