We learn from the I-lokitilca Clironicle that the wreck of the JVlaid of the Mill was disposed of by auction by G. W. Binney & Co., realising some £30 only, the surf, although not particularly heavy, having:, during- the preceding night, carried away her starboard side, and washed out of her hold nearly the •whole of her cargo of coal. On the night of the 18th instant, a whaleboat, the property of William Livesey, Invercargill, was maliciously injured by some person at present unknown, by having two holes knocked in her bottom with some blunt instrument, while she was lying on the beach near the Invercargill jetty. In addition to the large shipment of gold from -Greymouth a few days ago, 2,004 ounces were shipped by the Bank of New Zealand, for Melbourne, by the Gothenburg, on the Bth inst.

The demand for coal has increased much of late at Greymouth — indeed, so much so as to exceed the supply, vessels having to wait in turn several days before they can load'up. The Argus understands the 'delay in the. supply arises, not at the pit, but from the iknited means-of -conveying the coal down the xivex-.
