Wakefield. — A. public, meeting, convened by a portion of the inhabitants of: Wakefield*, was held in the School-room, on Monday evening, April 30, to " take, into consideration.- the 1 proposed resignation of the schoolmaster." Mr. Thomas Andrews was placed in the chair; when it appeared .that' Mr. Phillips had intimated to a portion of the inhabitants that he had some intention of resigning-*, iii consequence of a disagreement between* himself and one-of'tßeparents in the' neighborhood, whereupon the- present' meeting was called. There were about 40 persons* present, and the meeting resulted in a vote of confidence in Mr. Phillips, proposed l by the- Rev. F. Tripp, being carried unanimously. A vote of thanks-to the chairman terminated 'the proceedings-.
