NOTICES OF MOTION. Thursday, May 3, 1866. 1. Mr. Kelling to move, That in the event of the Government of The Colony sanctioning the alienation of the Waste Lands of the province for constructing a railway between the City of Nelson and the West Coast as proposed in the Kesolutions passed by this Council, on the Ist instant : his Honor the Superintendent be respectfully requested to take such steps as he shall think hest calculated to bring the scheme under the notice of Capitalists who may be likely to view it favorably; and this Council pledges itself to cover by vote any expense the Government may incur in endeavouring to carry the Eesolutions referred to into effect. 2. Mr. McMahon to move, That his Honor the Superintendent be requested to place on the Estimates the sum of 40/, for the purpose of procuring the services of a competent person to act as Clerk to the Bench of Magistrates at Motueka. 3. Mr. Parker to move, That the Cattle Trespass Bill be recommitted, to enable him to move the following ammendments, viz.: To add to Clause 1, "and no damages shall be summarily recoverable in respect to cattle trespassing on unfenced land, or on hind not substantially fenced, except under the provisions of this Act. In Clause Go. to strike out the words after the word " by" in line (5, to the word " to " in line 9, and insert the words " the evidence of at least one competent witness." The Provincial Solicitor to move the second reading of the Buller lieserves Administration Amendment Act.
