There was a crowded meeting to raise a fund for the family of the late Dr. Woolley, who was lost in the London. The Assembly has refused to direct the Government to alter the present administration of the Land-law. Tbe Amended Municipalities Act bas passed the Assembly. The suspension of the Standing Orders was moved by Mr. Edgar, in the Assembly, so as to admit of the passing, in one day, of the Appropriation Bill, the Public Works Laud Bill, aud the bills for the appointment of the Public Debt Commissioners. The Assembly has decided to restore all official salaries previously reduced to their former level. Tbe police came upon three bushrangers, who were engaged sticking up a public house at Obley, near Dubbo. A desperate fight ensued, which resulted in one of tbe scoundrels being shot, and another captured, the third escaping. A heavy rain has fallen. Private advices from Chili, to the 15th January, report over 30 vessels chartered and sailed for Australia. As soon as possble heavy shipments of new corn will be made, as it is feared tbe blockade will be resumed. The schooner Britain's Queen was totally wrecked on Capricorn's reef, but the crew were saved. Maize is plentiful ; wool sales dull ; tallow, £4 lower. Iv the Assembly Mr. Macleay has given notice of motion that the subsidy, of £55,000 is too much for New South Wales to pay towards the Pauama line.
