Pigeon Escorts Train
MARGHERITA (Assam). —A lonely pigeon here has taken upon itself thej strange task of “escorting” a passenger train on the 65-mile DibrugarhLedo section of the Assam railway. The bird flies both ways, just ahead of the train. The pigeon perches on the searchlight casing of the engine and takes off just as the whistle goes. The speed of the .train is usually about 25 miles an hour, and it is said that in no case have intrigued drivers been able to overtake the pigeon by increasing speed.—Reuters.
