Tieless Courtier
LONDON, Fri. (11 a.m.)—The magazine Tailor and Cutter declared that at Goodwood races "we were pained to notice that included among the bevy of young men attendant upon Princess Margaret were a brace who wore no tics.
‘To us—simple chaps reared upon a bedtime surfeit of tales of Cinderella and the satorial glories of the Arabian Nights—it came as a distinct shock to see courtiers with open-necked shirts. “There is something 100 incongruous about it all.” The magazine said it could forgive the absence of knee breeches and jewelled swords, but would not accept without complaint the Princess’ escort with a shirt collar doubled over the back of his jacket. “Whoever heard of Prince Charming without a collar stud ? " the magazine asked.
