WELLINGTON. Sat. fP.A.i.— Increases in the margins payable to waterside workers for handling special cargoes ranged up to .'l5O per cent under the terms of a recent order by the Waterfront Industry Commission, said Mr .!. R. Ilanan (O— Invercargill) in the House of Representatives yesterday. . .
He gave notice to ask the Minister of Labour (Mr McLagan) whether these increases had been approved bv the Stabilisation Commission, and whether the commission would consent to • a comparable increase for other sections of wage and salary earners under its control, as, for example, local body employees. Mr Ilanan said the waterside workers’ hourly rates for handling certain cargoes had been increased as follows.
