Primary Schools Winter Sports Tournament
THERE were hundreds of them. Little boys at the Whangarei Boys’ High School grounds, and little girls at the Whangarei Primary School grounds. They all laughed, yelled, played, wrestled and frollicked in the noisiest possible manner to provide the traditional atmosphere for the annual winter sports tournament of the Whangarei Primary Schools’ Sports Association.
Fifty-eight schools were represented in football and basketball, three grades in each, and teachers had a busy time organising and refereeing the big programme of games. Championships, open competitions and inter-zone finals were played. Results to edition time were:—
