Maori League Trial

AUCKLAND, Thu. (Sp.)—The Wai-kato-Rotorua Maori Rugby League team defeated Auckland-Ncrthland Maoris by 14 points to 11 in a wellcontested game played at Carlaw Park yesterday. The match, which was played as a trial for the selection of the New Zealand Maori team to play the Australians in September, proved a success, and several promising players were seen in action.

For Auckland-Northland, K. Ropata fielded well at fullback and made several nice runs in attempting to open up the play. G. Bell, the centre, made some clever solo efforts, but he lacked support when tries looked possible. Ewe, Wright and Rogers were the best forwards. There was a surpisingly good attendance of about 2000.
