N.Z. Property Owners Association Formed
“To take steps considered necessary for the protection, upholding and due recognition of rights of owners of real property in New Zealand, is the first object of the New Zealand Property Owners’ Association line.), a new organisation established last month by a conference in Wellington. Mr W. R. Vallance, of Whangarei. is rhe Dominion secretary.
The conference was attended by representatives from all parts of the country and a certificate of incorporation has been issued. Objects of the society are: (1) To take steps considered necessary for the protection, upholding and due recognition of rights of owners of real property in New Zealand.
(2) To provide an information service for members on all matters pertaining to laws and regulations affecting real estate. (3) To encourage at all times ownership by the individual of his own home, farm or other property.
(4) To safeguard at all times the right of the individual to pass on to his heirs, without restraint, the freehold or other real interest that he acquired during his lifetime. (5) To make representations to Parliament and elsewhere in • respect of any laws, regulations or enactments affecting land ownership and tenure and to promote and support legislation in support of the rights and privileges of the individual ownership of land.
(6) To guard zealously, at all times, the rights of the individual owjier of real property to the full, undisturbed and unrestricted use and enjoyment of his property. DISTRICT REPRESENTATIVES
The affairs of the association will be managed by an executive consisting of the Dominion president, the four directors, one appointed from each of the four main centres, the secretary and the treasurer. In each of the other centres, the centre directors will appoint representatives in all districts and provision is made for the setting up of branches wherever members so desire. Annual subscription raffis were fxed for ovjiflers of property up to £ 10011 in value, 10from £ 1000 to £SOOO in value, £1; over £SOOO in value. £2. Officers elected were:— Dominion president, Mr Stewart Hardy (Wellington) centre directors. Mr D. G. Riddiford (Auckland), Mr D. A. Herbert (Wellington), Mr S. G. Isherwood (Christchurch), Dunedin, to be appointed: Dominion secretary, Mr W. R. Vallance (Whangarei). Dominion treasurer. Mr Ashley Cooper (Wellington), auditors, Messrs A. J. McLennan and K. Parry (Wellington).
