Working Tour Of North Island

J,n the course of a working lour of the North Island two young men from Hastings, Messrs L. Hinder and W. Roberts, drove into Whangarei on Sunday from Auckland where they have been working for two months. Travelling i«n a half-ton truck, with a canopy back, accommodation does not worry the two men as home is where they stop. Leaving Hastings in May they drove up the East Coast, slopping at Gisborne, Whakatane, Opotiki and Tauranga before coming to Auckland. While staying in a town they take any casual job they can get until they move on.

Mr Hinder is a mechanic by trade, so possible breakdowns to the truck do not cause any anxiety. Today, Messrs Hinder and Roberts planned to drive to Russell in the course of a quick circuit of Northland. including Waipoua Forest and Dargaville.

Although winter-time is not ideal for sightseeing they made Hie trip while petrol supplies were available. On their return journey to Hastings the two young men plan to drive down the West Coast, and visit Wellington. seeing all they can of the North Island in the six months they intend to be away from home.'
