More Motors Than Ever

WELLINGTON, Tue. (P.A.).— The number of motor vehicle registrations as at June 30 constitutes a record with an increase of 6.45 per cent on the figure for last year and an increase of 73.02 per cent on the figure for 1936, stated the Postmaster General (Mr Hackett) today. A total of 392,386 motor vehicles has been registered this year, of which 227,539 are cars (an increase of 6672 on last year), 144.458 are commercial vehicles (increase of 16,355) and 20.389 are motor cycles (increase of 762).
