Returning home with the unusual academic distinction of each having gained a doctorate of philosophy from London University, Dr and Mrs N. G. Stephenson, of Auckland, arrived by the Wanganelln from Sydney yesterday. Dr Stephenson, who is a lecturer in zoology at the Auckland University College, and his wife left for England two years ago to carry out advanced research. Dr Stephenson was made a fellow of the Linnean Society and he passed the practical examination for an associateship of the Royal College of Organists. Like her husband, Mrs Stephenson is a graduate of Auckland University College, holding the degree of master of science with firstclass honours. Air Commodore P. F. Farmer arrived at Auckland today, accompanied by his wife, on a year's holiday visit to New Zealand. He was formerly chief accounts officer in the Far East under Air Chief Marshal Sir Keith Park, and in the Middle East under Marshal of the Royal Air Force, Lord Tedder.
