Mr And Mrs Sketchley Married 51 Years
Today is the 51st wedding anniversary of Mr and ,Mrs R. Sketchiey, of 7 Momingside Road, V/hangarei. Although the Whangarei relatives will be visiting them, no family reunion party will be held. On August 1, 1898, Mr and Mrs Sketchiey were married at Polesworth, in Warwickshire, England, by the Rev. Canon Trotter in St Edith's Church. Mrs Sketchiey was born in 1880 at Dordon, Warwickshire, and Mr Sketchley in 18/7 at Atherstone in the same county. On his arrival in the Dominion in 1912 Mr Sketchiey took up mining in the Whau Valley, later working for the Whangarei Borough Council until his retirement in 1941. There are seven children —Mesdames L. Dyer (Auckland), V. Wallbank (Whangarei) and G. Kehoe (Towai), Messrs Thomas, Richard, John and • George Sketchiey, all of Whangarei, and 22 grandchildren.
