Ayrshire Breeders Sale September 22
Preparations for the fifth annual bull and heifer sale and show of the Northland Ayrshire Breeders’ Club were made at a meeting yesterday afternoon.
The event is scheduled for September 22, at Kensington Park. Entries close on August 10 and the draw for the catalogue will be made the following day by Messrs I. Bodle and F. J. Philpott. To assist buyers, all bulls’ damproduction records will be verified this year. The bull section will be limited to A and AA bulls, the section for bulls whose dams have not yet qualified having been deleted. This move will raise the standard of bulls in the sale. ■ Judge will be Mr W. C. Wallace (Cambridge), and if he is - not available, Mr S. Clark (Papakura). Dargavillc breeders were well represented at yesterday’s meeting and it was decided that a field day will be held in Dargaville for the benefit of breeders who are unable to attend Whangarei meetings. NATIONAL CONFERENCE The chairman (Mr R. H. Robson) reported on the annual meeting of the Ayrshire Breeders’ Association, held recently in Palmerston North. Remits forwarded by the northern district were discussed. The first, which sought the acquisition of suitable films on the breed for distribution through the country, was dropped when it was stated that there was already one film available and the cost of a new one would be prohibitive. A proposal that all tattoo year numbers be of one figure instead of two was carried. Because the national sale was not a true indication of the breed, it was recommended that the allocation of prize-money for that fixture be withdrawn and £lO given to all clubs holding annual sales.
