Arrests In India
NEW DELHI, Wed. (11 a.m.)— The police in Delhi and four other cities arrested 71 members of the militant Hindu organisation, Rashtriya Swayam Sevak, after reports that it planned a civil resistance campaign in protest against the ban imposed on it after Gandhi’s assassination in January. The Indian Government recently turned down a plea by RSS leaders that the ban be lifted.
Thirty of the arrests were made in Delhi and the others in towns in the East Punjab and Lucknow.
