Australian Varsity Rugby Team Coming
WELLINGTON. Subject to approval of the New South Wales Rugby Union an Australian Universities’ Rugby team will visit New Zealand during May, 1949. Advice to this effect was received by the executive of the New Zealand Rugby Union from the New Zealand University Rugby Football Council, which also notified that the itinerary would be drawn up when the dates and ports of arrival of ships about that time of the year were known. The visit was approved, subject to a copy of the itinerary being received as soon as possible. The New South Wales union advised that the match against Toowoomba at Toowoomba had been removed from the itinerary for the New Zealand Maori team’s tour next year. This would reduce the number of games to two weekly.
On the recommendation of the council of the New Zealand Rugby Union tlie executive committee decided to recommend players to take dinner suits on the tour of South Africa next year.
