Liquor Gifts To Secretary

LONDON, Fri. (11 a.m.)—When Sir Maurice Bloch, a Scottish whisky firm managing director, was further crossexamined today at the Board of Trade inquiry, he said that in all he had given the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Trade (John Belcher) two and a half dozen bottles of sherry, one dozen of Burgundy and 14 bottles of whisky, representing a retail value of about £6O.

Leonard Joseph Matchan, president of the Perfumery and Toilet Manufacturers’ Association, said he had seen Belcher on several occasions in connection with the toilet preparations industry and other business matters. He sent a small number of cosmetics worth about 20/- to Mrs Belcher, and sent Belcher cosmetic samples on occasions. some for semi-charitable purposes. The Hearing was adjourned.
