Northland Associated C hambers Of Commerce
The twelfth conference of the Northland Associated Chambers of Commerce is being held in Whangarei today. This recalls the happy inspiration which brought into close association Northland chambers of commerce which had previously operated as isolated units.
It was felt that much more weight would be attached to the efforts of chambers of commerce to advanede Northland interests if there were periodical interchange of views upon outstanding questions of common importance to the whole territory. . The constitution of the Associated Chambers of Commerce, and particularly the decision to make it a perambulatory body, conferences being held in turn in each chamber’s district, has proved very successful.
It is , safe to say the interests of Northland have been substantially advanced by the deliberations of the delegates of the combined organisations.
The conference which opened this morning is being attended by delegates from Kaitaia, Kaikohe, Okaihau, Kawakawa, Dargaville and Whangarei Chambers of Commerce, and there are on the agenda 19 remits covering a wide field of discussion affecting the development and welfare of Northland.
This reveals the scope and importance of the conference, which, it is to be hoped, will add materially to the valuable public service the associated chambers have already rendered and the visiting delegates’ stay in Whangarei will prove enjoyable to themselves as it will be profitable to Northland.
