U.S. West Coast Dock Strike Over
SAN FRANCISCO,' Fri.—Settlement of the West Coast longshoremen’s strike has been announced after a stoppage which has tied up shipping for 74 days. The agreement is subject to ratification by both employers and the union, but it is expected that work will be resumed early next week. The agreement provides for a wage increase of 15 cents an hour, which is what the dockers have been demanding. The employers estimate that the strike cost $4,000,000 a day.
Settlement of the East Coast strike was announced yesterday after 16 days. The dockers secured a wage increase of 13 cents an hour.
