Guardsmen Stoke Palace Bailers

LONDON, Toes. (10 a.m.).—Guardsmen this afternoon stoked Buckingham Palace boilers, where 38 stokers arc on strike.

Other places affected by the strike arc both Houses of Parliament, the War Offices. Law Courts and other Government buildings.

The strike involves 1700 boiler attendants who are demanding a rise of 22/- a week.

Their Majesties are not in residence at the palace, but they will return from Windsor this afternoon. Charwomen who already have begun go-slow tactics at the Ministry ot Works in support of higher pay demands are threatening to go slow in other Government Offices. Each of the Government’s 3000 charwomen is supposed to keep 3000 feet of floor space clean.
