DAM

ROTORUA: Geophysicists 'of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research have begun an investigational survey to locate a site for the Atiamuri dam and powerhouse, the fifth of the new hydroelectric stations on the Waikato River, between Cambridge and Taupo.

Although the exact site of the dam has not yet been fixed, it will probably be iiv-the narrow gorge through which the river boils in a series of narrow rapids a short distance below the bridge of the Putaruru-Taupo highway.— (Sp.)
