The competition is decided on results from the various country shows and was this year held up unduly late by non-dispatch of essential information from at least one Northland show organisation.

For the second year in succession the winner in Northland is Mr N. A. Fraser, of Kawakawa. This year he gained 80 points. Mr Fraser also tied for second place with Mr A. Webby, of Maungatapere. each gaining 76 points. f

CURRENT SEASON’S JUDGING

Judging on the hooks from 1947-48 entries at last Saturday’s Waimate North show was carried out at Moerewa yesterday. Mr Fraser, who had been first on show day, tied with Mr G. Alexander, cf Gkaihau. who was third at the showfor first place on the hooks with 83 points. Third place on the hooks was taken by Mr E. A. Cook, of Okaihau, who had not been placed in the show judging. He gained 80 points. Mr Fraser was again in the running at fourth place, with 76 points for an entry that had been second on the hoof.

Fifth place was filled by Mr R, H. Robson, of Lake Omapere, with 72 points. He had not been placed on the hoof.
