Good Prices For Southland Wool
(P.A.) INVERCARGILL, This Daq. Prices satisfactory to growers were realised at the second wool sale of the Southland season yesterday. The catalogue of 35.469 bales was the largest ever offered in Invercargill. The great quantity of wool, combined with slow bidding on occasions, protracted the proceedings until 11 30 p.m. The bulk of the hogget wool sold at Joint Organisation prices—super hogget wool to 25d, fine 20d to 21d, medium 18d to 20d. The bulk of the hogget wool went to Bradford. Ewe wool met with a keen demand. Continental, American. Australian and local buyers operating. The keenest competition came for bellies and pieces, Continental buyers being particularly active. The top price of the sale was 29Jd for first Merino. Southdown wool made to 27d.
