No Slight Intended

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The secretary of the Transport Workers’ Picnic Committee (Mr A. Wathey) said yesterday that, while it was true Ministers were not invited to the recent picnic, this was not due to any intentional slight, but to the fact that he was extremely busy at the time owing to the trouble on the waterfront, as well as being fully engaged with all the many details qf the organisation of the picnic, and making certain that supplies for so many people were assured. It was not until 5 p.m. on the day before the picnic that the Minister’s reply concerning the non-availability of oranges was received by him. The' Marketing Depai'tment did, however, make five cases of bananas available.
