N.Z. Butter For U.S. Forces

(Rec. 11 a.m.) LONDON, June 26. The Parliamentary Secretary for Food (Dr Edith Summerskill) _ announced in the House of Commons that tentative arrangements had been made whereby New Zealand would supply United States forces in the Pacific with 10.000.0001bs of butter in the next six months.

Britain had agreed on the understanding that the United States made available equivalent quantities of fats to Britain.

Replying to a question. Dr Summerskill said that since last Christmas 140 separate shipments comprising 200,000 individual gift packages of food from Australia, New Zealand, Canada and some colonies had been distributed to old people, children and sick persons in Britain.

’’Stocks still in store were in good order and there were no grounds for allegations that the food was deteriorating and neglected.
