Secretary Of Wilsons Cement To Retire
Mr F. W. Wilson, secretary of Wilsons (N.Z.) Portland Cement, Ltd.. since it was established in 1918, is to retire soon. A son of the late Mr John Wilson, founder of the industry in New Zealand, Mr Wilson has been associated with the cement trade for 55 years. • He was previously manager of the old-established Wilsons Portland Cement Co., Ltd., which, with the New Zealand Portland Cement Co., Ltd,, and the Dominion Portland Cement Co., Ltd., was merged into the present company at the end of the first world war. The chairman of directors of the company. Mr G. Winstone, paid a tribute at yesterdays meeting to Mr Wilson’s long service to the industry. Shareholders carried a vote of thanks. The directors have made an appropriate recognition cf his service, and a presentation was made to Mr Wilson by the general manager (Mr S. Reid) on behalf of the staff. Mr Wilson will be succeeded by Mr John McLaehlan, of the Auckland staff, who will assume his new duties on July 1. Mr McLaehlan has been with the company for 27 years.
