(Special) OHAEAWAI. This Day. The footballing future of Johnny Smith, famous Kaikohe member of the Kiwi touring team, who is due to arrive from England within a few days, was discussed at last evening's meeting cf the Bay of Islands Rugby Union management committee.

The Kaikohe dub delegate (Mr I. | Pausina) asked whether Smith would | be required to play a formal club | game before playing a rep. fixture. After varying opinions and experiences in Hawke's Bay and Whangarei had been related by speakers, it was resolved to refer the matter by telegram to the North Auckland Rugby Union and, if necessary, to the New Zealand Rugby Council. LEAGUE PLAYER REINSTATED A well-known Kaikohe player. D. W. Pad lie, was reinstated by the committee. Fadlie, who was a star winger in the unofficial Bay reps, of 1944, played League in Auckland last season. The j question of penalty was considered, but was not invoked.
