Danes Ready To Resume Greenland
(Rec. 11 a.m.) LONDON June 25. Denmark is interested in the establishment of a permanent meteorological station in North Greenland, but wants it owned and operated by Denmark. not by the United States, said the Danish Foreign Minister (M. Rasmussen) at a press conference at Co-
penhagen. M. Rasmussen said the United States had proposed the establishment of a station there. He also revealed that Russia had offered to transfer half of 250,000 German war prisoners remaining in Denmark to the Russian-occu-pied zone in Germany if the British and American zones take the remainder.
Reuter's Copenhagen correspondent says it is learned that the Danish Government is ready to resume full sovereignty over Greenland and take over American-built meteorological stations and airfields there. The Danish Minister to Washington (M. Kaufmann) is discussing the termination of the wartime agreement signed with President Roosevelt in 1941, which placed Greenland virtually under the protection of the United States.
