Mr J. W. Byers, of Kaikohe, has been appointed local representative on the Northland District Pig Council. The Consul-General for the Netherlands (Dr van Panhys) yesterday invested Major-General Sir F. Bowerbank with the insignia of a Grand Officer of the Order of Oranje-Nassau. The ceremony, which took place at the Consul-General’s home in Wellington, was impressive in its simplicity. Messrs W. T. Bowman and J. T. Teesdale have been nominated for the two Whangarei Borough seats on the Auckland Education Board. The new offices, for which nominations closed today, were created by the board recently as a result of the increased population of the borough.
