War Expenditure

(Rec. 1.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, This Day-

In the first nine months of this financial year the Government spent £2,000,000 more on the war than in the corresponding period of last year, said the Leader of the Opposition (Mr Menzies) at the Liberal Party state convention last night. Apparently the Government did not realise that the war had ended. Expenditure remained high because the Government was still maintaining and enlarging its wartime departments. Total expenditure on tire war for the first nine months of this year was £249,000.000.
