Whangarei Holds Annual Meeting

W.D.F.U.

There was a good attendance at the annual meeting of the Whangarei branch of the WDFU. The report stated that during the year a dance was held to raise funds to buy garden chairs for the Potter Memorial Home. A visit from the Dominion president (Mrs Elliott) had been welcomed. The election of officers resulted:— President, Mrs Lilley vice-presidents, Mrs Finlayson and Mrs Peat; secretary treasurer. Mrs. Snell (re-elected); committee; Mesdames Flux, DavisColley, Bruce Jones, Timewell, L. Horrobin: social delegates (Crippled Children), Mrs. Lilley; (Red Cross, orphanage), Mrs. H. T. Snell. Cn April 18 the president (Mrs Lilley) welcomed members and friends of the Women’s Division to a luncheon party to bid farewell to Mrs Davenpert, a former president, who has now left Whangarei to reside in Dunedin. During luncheon Mrs A. Marsden j Woods sang several songs and Mrs T. J. Griffin gave two humorous recita- j tions. The president said the branch was sorry to lose a member whose help had been invaluable to the division. 1 She presented Mrs Davenport with a silver bread fork on behalf of the members, ano wished her every hap-, piness in her new home. ;
