Farmers Cancel Manure Orders

Instances of farmers cancelling their manure orders on account of shortage of funds through the poor season, have been reported. A supplier of the "Whangarei Dairy Company has taken this step and it is known that others are considering the question.

In most cases farmers claim that their allocation of superphosphates is insufficient for their requirements and it has been observed that following a dry season such as is being experienced, the need for manure on pastures is accentuated.

Not only in dairying circles is considerable concern being caused by the feed and water shortage. Pig breeders are suffering severely as a result of lack of feed, and a special meeting has been called by the Northland District Pig Council for tonight, when representatives of the pig buying and exporting firms will meet the council to discuss the problems with which the industry is now v faced.
