Disastrous Hail Ire Canterbury
(P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH. This Day. Thousands of pounds worth of damage was caused by a brief but disastrous hailstorm which swept up the Bowenvale valley, on the outskirts of the city, yesterday afternoon. Few glasshouses in the valley escaped unscathed and one tomato grower with six houses estimated that he lost more than 75 per cent, of his panes. The replacement of the glass will prove a difficult problem.
