Frost This Morning After a clear, cold night frost descended on Whangarei this morning. During the past week, with such a small recorded rainfall, almost every second day has brought a frost, while the days themselves have generally been fine with a number of hours of sun. The frost will be of benefit to gardeners, killing off many pests.
Tamaki University Site An area of about 120 acres at Tamaki is being acquired as a site for a university. An important step toward this objective was taken when the Auckland Hospital Eoard agreed to sell to the Department of Housing Construction approximately 28 acres at a cost of £1750. Action to acquire the land follows negotiations between the Government and the council of Auckland University College. The sile is near Glen Innes railway station and has a frontage to Point England Road. Glen Innes is about five miles from the city oy rail.

Thi's is an increase of more than 1500 since 1941 when there were 4234 electors on the rolls.
Address to A.T.C. Cadets
Addressing members of the No. 20 Squadron (Whangarei) of the Air Training Corps at a parade last night, Flying-Officer L. Reisterer, of Whangarei, spoke of his experiences in training in Canada and in combat in the Pacific where he was engaged as a wireless-air-gunner in Catalina flying-boats. Addresses by servicemen who have engaged on operational flying are of great interest to the cadets and a popular inclusion in the training programme.
Theft From Railway Gardens
Sneak thieves were busy at the Whangarei railway station lower garden last evening, when they stole a number of plants which the gardener had put in yesterday. The flower garden at the station has been a subject of enthusiastic comment in the past, it being indeed a thing of beauty. That individuals should stoop to such mean theft passes comprehension. Steps have been taken to make further forays by thieves an unprofitable venture. J|! if if * Give the younger generation a chance—they will not fail you. Vote Les McKinnon, Saturday. 141 Pei sonar This afternoon Their Excellencies the Governor - General and Lady Newall left Wellington to pay official visits to Cambridge, Morrinsville, Te Aroha and Auckland.
