MR. JOHN R. ANGELO.—Born in Whangarei, he is making his initial bid. His grandparents were among the early settlers of Northland. He is on the executive of the Federation of Labour, and was prominent in the industrial movement in Auckland. Mr. Angelo is vice-president of the Whangarei Swimming Club, and played senior Rugby League in Auckland, also taking part in rowing, cricket and Rugby. Was discharged from camp class 3. and is engaged on essentialbuilding work. Is the local secretary of the Society of Closer Relations with the Soviet Union

MR. HAROLD F. MENZIES.—A chemist by profession, who until hL retirement this year had been associated with that class of business in Whangarei for the past 35 years, Mr. Menzies is offering himself for the first time in local politics. Born in New Zealand, he is a past president of the Whangarei Chamber of Commerce and is a member of the executive. For many years he has been particularly interested in reafforestation, and is a member of the Northland Forestry Society. He is an active member of the Whangarei Bowling Club, and other local organisations.

MR. WILLIAM JOHN BELL.—(See Whangarei County Council).
MR G. O. DYSART.—One of those elected unopposed as a Whangarei County representative for the Whangarei. Hospital Board, Mr Dysart has been farming in the Mangakahia district for very many years and has identified himself with everything for the advancement of the district. Previously he was a resident of Herekino. He was a member of the Whangarei County Council for three years but is not seeking re-election io that body.
MR. RICHARD FEAVER.— (Set Whangarei County Council).
MR. THOMAS J. GRIFFIN.—A wellknown Southdown sheep breeder and dairy farmer, Mr. Griffin was born at Whau Valley and has occupied his present farm for over 30 years. For six years a member of the Kamo Town Board, he was chairman for four years. Has long been a steward of the Whangarei A. and P. Society-, of which he was president for two years. Director of the Whangarei Dairy Company for 16 years. He was a member of the Kamo School committee, and is a past-presi-dent of the Whangarei Rotary Club. Mr. Griffin is a local representative on the advisory committee of the Whangarei branch of the New Zealand Crippled Children's Society.
MR. J. A. S. MAC KAY.— (See North Auckland Power Board.)
MR. JOHN C. McKAY.—Appointed 2i years ago to replace Mr A. J. McKay, he occupies many positions associated with the Waipu district. These include president Waipu Agricultural Society; Waipu branch of the N.Z. Farmers’ Union; vice-president Farmers’ Union provisional executive; vice-president Waipu Caledonian Society. He was chairman of the North River School committee for some years, and director of the Waipu Dairy Company for nine years. He has had lengthy farming experience in the district.

GREEN.—Farmer of Donnelly’s Crossing; member • of Northern Wairoa Farmers’ Union; Donnelly’s Crossing School Committee, and Kaipara Licensing Committee, and a Presbyterian elder and lay preacher. MR. W. MONTGOMERY.—Member for past nine years, he was one who made canvass for consumers some 21 years ago; associated with Rugby in Northern Wairoa in every capacity since 1902, having been president, selector and representative; president North Auckland Piping and Dancing Association. MR. R. G. MURDOCH.—Dairy farmer at Kirikopuni; was for lengthy period director Northern Wairoa Dairy Company; was North Auckland representative Rugby player; returned soldier. He enlisted in present war and for some time did service in Dominion.
MR. E. R. ROPE.—Master builder and joiner by trade; lived in Northern Wairoa all his life; former keen Rugby football official and representative. MR. D. ROWAN. —New aspirant; wellknow Dargaville business man; equally well known on the bowling green. MR. A. A. TODD. —Farmer of long standing at Akahu, making his debut; member Farmers’ Union.
