“Unpublished Story” Told At The Regent
The Battle of Britain was fought again at the Regent last evening, when a revealing insight was given into the magnificent way in which an unprepared people rose to a supreme occasion. Incidental to the development of the story, there were given never-to-be-for-gotten pictures of the horrors of the bombing of London and the heroic conduct of all classes of the community including those in air raid shelters and those who risked life and limb to fight the flames caused by bombs. The spotlight. however, was chiefly thrown on the operations of the staff of a great London daily, who, despite being bombed and blasted, carried on their work with steadiness and zeal. That the paper was printed under such circumstances was truly a never dying tribute to the journalistic profession." The decrees of the censor, who because it would not be in the public interest, would not allow striking stories of German brutality and British valour to be published, formed the central theme. A fine cast of British artists headed by Richard Greene* and Valerie Hobson, provided character acting of a high (order. Another star picture was “Lucky Legs”, a purely American comedy which was delightful in every respect.
