Berlin Controlled Argentine Pledged To Harass Allies
NEW YORK, January 21
The second part of a special report from Argentina, received by the State Department, predicts that Argentina, swollen by its own importance .and edged on by Nazi trouble-makers, will become the future Balkans of the world by plunging other countries into war in so effort to retrieve traditional leadership in South America, says the New York ‘World Telegram.” The Argentine is at present arming herself as rapidly as possible, and deals have been made with the famous Fascist and Austrian munitions manufacturer, Fritz Mandl, now in Argentina, which means systematic preparation for future war. Moreover, Argentina hopes that the politically unstable republics of Paraguay and Chile will swing into an anti-American bloc, as already has been done with Bolivia. The report states that even democratic Uruguay has a group of extreme reactionaries, known as “Herreristas.” If plotting fails, incidents such as in Poland, Czechoslovakia and Manchuria will easily be arranged. The report alleges that Argentina has shown herself In a thousand large and small ways to be definitely pledged to harass the United Nations. Many Argentine citizens consider the present regime is controlled directly from Berlin as surely as if the swastika flew over Buenos Aires.
