Pacific Council Opposes Island Hopping
WASHINGTON, September 29. At a meeting of the Pacific War Council today. Sir Ronald Campbell, British Charge d’Afi’aires, said council members agreed with General MacArthur’s opposition to an island hopping strategy. Sir Ronald added that it would be difficult to find disagreement thereon amongst the representatives of Pacific powers. President Roosevelt reviewed the general Pacific situation and looked somewhat into the future, the prospects of which were regarded -by members as being not too bad.
