Araw Education

(P.A.)

AUCKLAND, This Day

An army education scheme is about Ic, come into operation in the Auckland district, civilian regional committees having been set up for each area in which troops are congregated. These committees are at Auckland, Mangonui, Whangarei, Rotorua and Hamilton. The educational work will be organised within the army, but civilians will give assistance in lectures and other ways. Major W. E. Alexander, Auckland director, says that the work will apply to all personnel, particularly the 18-20 age group which is recognised as a major problem. In each unit an education officer will be appointed and will have the assistance of a non-com-missioned officer.
