Runaway Horse /Whangarei residents were alarmed yesterday when a runaway horse careered madly up Bank Sireet, narrowly missing several cars and damaging a bicycle. The horse had been tied by a short length of rope to the limb ot a tree in a vacant Clyde Street section. Apparently the animal had been alarmed and the branch, which was rotten, broke. The trailing branch terrified it and it galloped madly through the town with the branch swinging behind it. A bicycle was hit and the fi’ome bent. The horse, which suffered minor cuts and bruises, was caught at the top of Bank Street by two men who went to considerable risk to secure it.
